What is Restorative Dental Care?

Any procedure with the goal of restoring the function of your smile is referred to as restorative dental care.

By addressing structural problems such as missing or damaged teeth, the dentists at Herongate Dental Clinic work to help restore your smile – and your oral health.

Depending on your issue, our dentists will determine a suitable restorative treatment option for your smile.

Dental Crowns

Crowns can help to restore a stained or discoloured tooth to its former function and change its appearance. These porcelain caps are placed on top of teeth and used to prevent a cracked tooth from further deteriorating, attach bridges or cover dental implants.

Dental Bridges

Custom-made, natural-looking bridges replace a section of missing teeth. They are bonded to dental implants or existing teeth, and can help restore the bite between upper and lower teeth, as well as the contour of teeth. Plus, they may be difficult to notice to a casual observer.

Dental Fillings

Fillings are used to repair cavities or tooth damage such as cracks. While composite (tooth-coloured) fillings are popular for their durability, appearance and ability to be placed on front or back teeth, silver amalgam fillings are more durable and more economical, though they are mainly reserved for back teeth.

Full & Partial Dentures

Dentures are artificial teeth, which replace one missing tooth, several consecutive teeth (partial dentures), or an entire jaw of missing teeth. These allow patients with missing teeth to maintain their facial structure, and to speak and chew as normal. They also prevent misalignment.

Inlays & Onlays

Sometimes a standard dental filling will not be sufficient because tooth damage is too extensive. This is where inlays and onlays can help. They are custom-made in a dental laboratory, then cemented to the tooth as a single piece.

Root Canals

Diseased, tissues, nerves and blood vessels need to be removed from a teeth before they cause more severe oral health issues. To accomplish this, your dentist completes a root canal to remove bacteria and decay. This can help stop the spread of infection.

Periodontal Maintenance (Gum Therapy)

Gum disease can infect the tissues of the mouth, including the gums, alveolar bone, cementum, gingiva and periodontal ligament. If the disease is detected in its early stages, your dentist will recommend non-surgical preventive gum therapy (periodontal maintenance). Otherwise, treatment methods will depend on the type and severity of the disease.

TMJ Disorder Treatment

The temporomandibular joint (or TMJ) is a hinge that joins your jaw to your skull's temporal bones. Disorder in this joint may cause issues with your jaw and facial muscles, including painful symptoms. Our dentists can detect, diagnose and create a treatment plan for TMJ Disorder.
