How Orthodontics Work

Whether we are working with a child, teenager or adult, the goal of orthodontic treatment is the same – to straighten teeth so they look better and work better.

We accomplish this goal using braces or clear aligners, which apply gentle pressure to your teeth to shift them into the correct position over a period of months or years.

Traditional Braces

Metal braces have been used for decades to straighten teeth. However, this generation is different from braces in the past, as advances in orthodontic treatment in recent years have brought us braces that are more comfortable, low-profile and easier to care for.

How Braces Straighten Teeth

Over a period of time, braces apply continuous pressure to your teeth, slowly moving them into their new, prescribed positions.

As pressure is applied and your teeth move, the bone will change shape to accommodate the new positions of the teeth.

Invisalign Clear Aligners

Invisalign clear aligners use a series of individually customized, clear plastic aligners to help gradually straighten your smile. These aligners are adjusted over a period of time.

With Invisalign, you get a convenience factor – they are removable for when you'd prefer to keep the fact that you are straightening your teeth a secret.

Similar in appearance to custom whitening trays, they are easy to insert. You can even remove them to eat, drink, brush and floss.
