How Orthodontics Work

Whether we are working with a child, teenager or adult, the goal of orthodontic treatment is the same – to straighten teeth in order to restore their function and change their appearance.

We accomplish this goal using braces or clear aligners, which apply gentle pressure to your teeth to shift them into their prescribed position over a period of months or years.

Traditional Braces

Metal braces have been used for decades to straighten teeth.

However, this generation is different from braces in the past, as changes in orthodontic treatment in recent years have brought us braces that are more comfortable, low-profile and easier to care for than those of past decades.

How Braces Straighten Teeth

Over a period of time, braces apply continuous pressure to your teeth, slowly moving them into their new, prescribed positions.

As pressure is applied and your teeth move, the bone will change shape to accommodate the new positions of the teeth.

Invisalign Clear Aligners

Invisalign clear aligners use a series of individually customized, clear plastic aligners to help gradually straighten your smile. These aligners are adjusted over a period of time.

Invisalign aligners are removable for when you'd prefer to keep the fact that you are straightening your teeth a secret.

Similar in appearance to custom whitening trays, they are designed to be easy to insert and remove. You can even take them out to eat, drink, brush and floss.
